Accounting in Storeflea (Tally-style)

How Storeflea keeps double-entry books like Tally — ledgers, groups and vouchers — while doing the postings for you behind everyday screens.

Storeflea keeps proper double-entry books, exactly like Tally: every transaction has two sides that always balance, posted to ledgers grouped into groups. The difference from Tally is that you rarely touch it — the everyday screens post for you.

You don't have to be an accountant

  • Make a bill → sales, tax and the customer/cash entries post automatically.
  • Record a purchase → stock, input tax and the supplier/cash entries post.
  • Take a payment → the customer ledger and the money account both update.

You only open the accounting screens when you want the accountant's view.

The building blocks (Tally terms)

  • Ledger — an account for one thing you track (a customer, a supplier, Cash, Bank, Sales, a rent expense).
  • Group — a category of ledgers (Sundry Debtors, Sundry Creditors, Bank Accounts, Indirect Expenses…).
  • Voucher — a recorded transaction (sale, purchase, receipt, payment, journal, contra).

What lives in this section

  • Payment accounts — your Cash, Bank, UPI, Card, Wallet money ledgers.
  • Opening balances — starting figures when you move onto Storeflea.
  • Cash & Bank and Contra — see and move money between accounts.
  • Manual journal and Ledger master — for adjustments and custom ledgers.
  • Day Book, Trial Balance, Ledger statement — the reports your CA wants.

Availability

The dedicated accounting screens are gated behind the Accounting feature and, on a multi-shop account, live on the Main branch (the books are for the whole business). System ledgers like GST and Sales are managed for you and kept out of the way.

New to this? You can run the whole shop from Billing, Customers and Purchases and ignore this section until your accountant asks for a Trial Balance.

Frequently asked

Do I need accounting knowledge to use Storeflea?

No. Storeflea keeps Tally-style double-entry books automatically — billing, purchases and payments make the entries for you. The accounting screens (ledgers, journals, Trial Balance, Day Book) are there when you or your CA want them, but you can run the shop entirely from the everyday screens.

Is Storeflea accounting like Tally?

Yes, conceptually. It uses the same double-entry model — ledgers, groups and vouchers (sales, purchase, receipt, payment, journal, contra) — so your books balance and reports tie out. The interface just hides that complexity until you need it.
