Ledgers & groups
Create your own ledgers under the right group — expenses, incomes, assets — so journals and reports classify money the way your accountant expects.
Quick steps
- 1
Open the ledger master
In accounting, go to create/manage ledgers.
- 2
Name the ledger
Give it a clear name (e.g. Rent, Electricity, Commission Income).
- 3
Pick its group
Assign the correct group (Indirect Expenses, Direct Incomes, Bank Accounts…).
- 4
Save and use
The ledger is now available in journals and shows in the Trial Balance under its group.
A ledger is an account for one thing you track; a group is the category it belongs to. Together they organise your whole book, just like Tally.
Why create ledgers
Storeflea already maintains the essential ledgers (customers, suppliers, cash, bank, GST, Sales, Discount Allowed, round-off). You add your own for the shop-specific things you want to see separately — typically expenses and incomes:
- Rent, Electricity, Salaries, Packing, Transport (expenses)
- Commission earned, Scrap sales, Interest received (incomes)
Groups do the classifying
When you put a ledger in the right group (e.g. Indirect Expenses, Direct Incomes, Bank Accounts, Fixed Assets), it automatically lands in the correct place on the Trial Balance and other reports. Choosing the group well is what makes the reports read cleanly.
System ledgers stay protected
Storeflea's own ledgers — GST, Sales and similar — are managed for you and kept out of manual editing, so tax and sales figures can't be accidentally broken. You create everything else.
Then use them
New ledgers show up in manual journals and payments, and roll up into the Day Book, Trial Balance and Ledger statement reports.

Frequently asked
How do I add an expense account like Rent or Electricity in Storeflea?
Use the ledger master to create a ledger (e.g. Rent) and assign it to the right group, such as Indirect Expenses. It then appears in journals and payments and rolls up correctly in the Trial Balance and other reports.
Can I edit Storeflea's GST or Sales ledgers?
No. System ledgers like GST and Sales are managed by Storeflea and kept out of manual editing, so tax and sales figures stay correct. You create and manage your own ledgers for everything else.
