Back-date a bill

Enter a bill for an earlier date within your allowed window — bounded by a Business Profile setting and validated against the GST period lock.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Set the back-date limit

In Business Profile, set how many days back bills may be dated (the back-date window).

  2. 2

    Start a new bill

Open Billing and begin the invoice as normal.

  3. 3

    Change the bill date

Set the invoice date to the earlier date you need, within the allowed window.

  4. 4

    Save

Storeflea validates the date against the window and the GST period lock, then saves.

Sometimes you need to enter a sale that actually happened yesterday or last week. Storeflea lets you back-date a bill, but within controls so your books and GST filings stay trustworthy.

The back-date window

You decide how far back bills can be dated using a Business Profile setting (e.g. "allow up to 7 days back"). A bill dated older than the window is rejected. This stops accidental or unwanted edits to old periods.

GST period lock

Back-dating is also checked against the GST period lock. If a tax period is locked (because you've filed it), you can't back-date a bill into it — that would change a return you've already submitted. Together, the window and the lock keep historical periods safe.

When to use it

  • Recording a sale you missed entering on the day.
  • Migrating a few recent manual bills into Storeflea.

For bulk historical migration, use a proper import instead of back-dating one bill at a time.

The limit and locks live on your account's period settings, so the same rules apply across shops.

Frequently asked

Can I create a bill for a past date in Storeflea?

Yes, within a back-date window you set in Business Profile (for example, up to 7 days back). Storeflea also checks the GST period lock, so you can't back-date into an already-filed tax period.

Why won't Storeflea let me back-date a bill?

Either the date is older than your allowed back-date window, or it falls inside a locked GST period. Widen the window in settings if appropriate, or pick a date outside the locked period.
