Udhaar (credit) bills

Sell on credit in Storeflea — the bill total moves to the customer's ledger as udhaar, which you collect later, fully or in parts.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Add a named customer

Udhaar needs a real customer (not the walk-in cash customer), so add or pick one.

  2. 2

    Build the bill

Add items and any discounts as usual.

  3. 3

    Set Payment Method to Udhaar

Choose Udhaar instead of Cash or Online.

  4. 4

    Save

The full invoice total posts to the customer's ledger as outstanding udhaar.

  5. 5

    Collect later

Record a receipt against the customer whenever they pay — fully or partly.

Udhaar (selling on credit) is core to how Indian shops trade, and Storeflea keeps it clean and accountable — no separate diary needed.

How it works

When you set the bill's Payment Method to Udhaar, the full total is added to that customer's ledger as an outstanding balance. Their ledger is a running statement of everything they owe and everything they've paid.

A single bill is either fully paid (Cash/Online) or fully udhaar — Storeflea doesn't split one bill into part-paid + part-credit. If a customer pays some of it now and the rest later, bill it as udhaar and then record a partial receipt.

Collecting the money

Later, record a receipt against the customer. It reduces their outstanding balance and posts to the money account you received it in (your Cash, Bank, UPI, Card or Wallet account). Partial receipts are fine — pay ₹500 against a ₹2,000 due and ₹1,500 remains. The ledger always shows the current due.

Good to know

  • Udhaar needs a named customer — walk-in cash sales can't be on credit.
  • Loyalty points can't be redeemed on a credit bill — redemption applies to paid bills. (You still earn points as configured.)
  • You can move a balance from one customer to another with a credit transfer if, say, a family member takes over the dues.

See Customer ledger for reading a customer's statement and Credit transfer for moving balances.

Frequently asked

How do I give udhaar (credit) to a customer in Storeflea?

Add or select a named customer, build the bill, and set the Payment Method to Udhaar. The full invoice total goes onto the customer's ledger as an outstanding balance, which you collect later with receipts.

Can I split one bill into part-paid and part-credit?

Not on a single bill — a bill is either fully paid (Cash/Online) or fully udhaar. If the customer pays some now and the rest later, bill it as udhaar and record a partial receipt against them for what they paid.

Can loyalty points be redeemed on a credit bill?

No — points are redeemed on paid bills only. A credit (udhaar) bill can still earn points per your loyalty settings, but redemption isn't allowed until it's a paid tender.
