Add a customer

Save a customer by their mobile number so you can track udhaar, give loyalty points, and send WhatsApp wishes — with birthdays, family dates and an opening balance.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Open Add customer

From the Customers screen (or while billing), open Add customer.

  2. 2

    Enter the mobile number

Mobile is the required field (defaults to +91). It's the identity that links WhatsApp, loyalty and the ledger.

  3. 3

Add the name & dates (optional)

Add the customer's name, birthday and anniversary — and family birthdays if you want to wish them too.

  4. 4

    Set an opening balance (optional)

If they already owe you (or you owe them), enter the amount and date and pick To Collect (udhaar) or Advance (To Pay).

  5. 5

    Save

The customer now has a ledger and can be billed on credit or given loyalty points.

A saved customer unlocks the relationship features: a running ledger, udhaar (credit), loyalty points and WhatsApp wishes and offers. Cash walk-ins don't need this, but regulars do.

Mobile is the key

The mobile number is the one required field — it's the identity Storeflea uses to link WhatsApp, loyalty and the customer's ledger (country code defaults to +91). The name is optional (though worth adding). If the number already exists, Storeflea tells you "Already a customer — saving will update their details", so you won't create duplicates.

What else you can capture

  • Birthday & anniversary — power automatic wishes (see Wish your customer).
  • Family birthdays — add family members' dates so you can wish them too.
  • City & email — for records and reach.
  • Opening balance (optional) — if a balance already exists when you start on Storeflea, enter the amount and date and choose the direction:
    • To Collect (udhaar) — they owe you.
    • Advance (To Pay) — you owe them (they've paid ahead).

Add on the fly

You don't have to prepare customers in advance — you can add a customer while billing, right when a walk-in becomes a regular who wants credit.

Duplicate protection is automatic: because the mobile number is the identity, re-adding the same number updates the existing customer instead of creating a second ledger.

Frequently asked

What information do I need to add a customer in Storeflea?

Only the mobile number is required — it's the identity that links WhatsApp, loyalty and the customer's ledger (defaults to +91). Name, birthday, anniversary, family birthdays, city, email and an opening balance are all optional and can be added any time, including mid-bill.

The customer already owes me money. How do I record that?

Set an opening balance when you add the customer: enter the amount and date, then choose To Collect (udhaar) if they owe you, or Advance (To Pay) if you owe them. Their ledger then starts from the right figure.

Will Storeflea create duplicate customers?

No. The mobile number is the identity, so re-adding the same number updates the existing customer (Storeflea shows 'Already a customer — saving will update their details') rather than creating a second ledger.
