Customer ledger & collecting udhaar

Read a customer's running statement of bills and payments, see what they owe, and record collections against their outstanding udhaar.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Open the customer

Go to Customers and select the person to see their ledger.

  2. 2

    Read the statement

Every credit bill and every payment is listed, with a running outstanding balance.

  3. 3

    Record a payment

When they pay, add a receipt for the amount into the money account you received it in.

  4. 4

    Balance updates

The outstanding due reduces immediately and the money posts to cash/UPI/bank.

The ledger is a customer's complete money history with your shop — a proper running khata. It replaces the paper diary and always shows the current due.

What's in the ledger

  • Credit bills increase what they owe.
  • Payments / receipts decrease it.
  • An opening balance (if set) is the starting point.
  • The running balance shows the live outstanding at every line.

Collecting a payment

When a customer pays some or all of their udhaar, record a receipt against them for the amount, choosing where the money went (cash, UPI, bank). Storeflea:

  • reduces their outstanding balance, and
  • posts the money to that account.

Part-payments are fine — pay ₹500 against a ₹2,000 due and ₹1,500 remains.

Sharing the statement

You can share a customer's statement so they can see exactly what's pending — no disputes about "how much is left".

Need to move a balance to a different person (family member, new proprietor)? Use Credit transfer.
