Godown (warehouse)

Add a godown to hold bulk stock that your shops draw from. It behaves like a shop internally but is presented as a godown, with retail features hidden.

Quick steps

  1. 1

    Add a godown

From Main → Settings → Manage shops, add a Godown (a paid add-on, like a branch). It gets a G-code.

  2. 2

    Receive bulk stock

Record purchases into the godown, or transfer stock to it.

  3. 3

    Transfer to shops

Move stock from the godown to a branch as they need it.

  4. 4

    Track its stock

The godown holds its own quantities, just like a shop.

A godown is a storage location — a warehouse or back-store — that holds bulk stock your shops pull from. In Storeflea it's a first-class location, not an afterthought.

You add a godown the same way as a branch — Settings → Manage shops on Main — and, like a branch, it's a paid add-on you confirm and pay for.

It's a shop under the hood

Internally a godown is a shop (with a G-code instead of a branch code). That means it gets the full stock machinery for free:

  • Holds its own stock quantities.
  • Receives purchases and transfers.
  • Can even bill like a branch when needed (e.g. a wholesale dispatch).

But it's presented as a godown

The interface labels it Godown, not "branch", and hides retail-only features that don't apply — for example Smart Ordering (dine-in table QR) isn't shown for a godown.

Typical flow

  1. Buy bulk → record the purchase into the godown.
  2. Distribute → transfer stock from the godown to each shop as they run low.
  3. Sell → shops bill from their own received stock.

This keeps central purchasing and branch selling cleanly separated, with accurate stock at every location.

Stock moves between a godown and shops via stock transfers, which keep both ends (and any batches) accurate. See Per-shop stock & transfers.

Frequently asked

How do I manage a warehouse or godown in Storeflea?

Add the location as a godown from Main. It holds its own stock and receives purchases and transfers like a shop, but is presented as a Godown with retail-only features (like Smart Ordering) hidden. Buy bulk into the godown, then transfer stock to your shops as needed.

Is a godown different from a shop in Storeflea?

Internally it's the same stock-and-billing machinery (a godown even has a shop-style G-code), so it holds stock and can bill. The difference is presentation: it's labelled Godown and hides retail features that don't apply to a storage location.
