Permissions & designations
Storeflea uses granular per-feature permissions, not fixed roles — tick exactly what each staff member can do, with a designation as the label, plus per-shop access.
Storeflea does not use a fixed role system (like a rigid "Cashier can only do X"). Instead, each staff member gets a set of individual permission toggles, so you grant exactly the access they need. A designation is just their job label.
Designation vs permissions
- Designation — a label (preset Manager / Cashier, or a custom one). Picking a preset fills a starting set of permissions, but it's only a starting point.
- Permissions — the real access, turned on one by one. Two people with the same designation can have different permissions — you decide per person.
What permissions cover
Each toggle grants an area of the app, for example:
- Billing, Inventory, Customers, Purchases
- Accounting, Analytics, Marketing, Loyalty
- Website, Smart Ordering, Staff, Shops/ecosystem
- …and more — one grant per feature.
Turn on only what the person needs. You can change a staff member's permissions any time.
The owner is special
The owner holds every permission automatically — you don't (and can't) toggle them off. Everyday staff start with nothing and get only what you grant.
Combine with shops
On multi-shop, permissions work within the shops a person is assigned to. So you can have:
- A cashier — Billing only, at one branch.
- A branch manager — a broader set of permissions, their branch.
- An owner/admin — everything, all shops, plus Main (business-wide settings, legal, accounting).
Principle: least access
Give each person the minimum they need. It protects sensitive data (other branches, business-wide accounting) and keeps their screen focused. Adjust or revoke any time.
Business-wide areas — GSTIN, legal settings, accounting, the wallet — live on Main, so only staff with Main access reach them.

Does Storeflea use fixed staff roles?
No. Instead of a rigid role→permission matrix, each staff member gets individual permission toggles — you grant exactly the areas they need (billing, inventory, accounting, and so on). A designation (Manager/Cashier or custom) is just a label whose preset fills a starting set you can adjust. The owner holds every permission automatically.
Can two staff with the same designation have different access?
Yes. The designation is only a label and a starting preset; the real access is the individual permissions you tick, so two 'Cashiers' can have different permissions.
How do I stop staff from seeing sensitive reports or accounting?
Don't grant those permissions, and don't give Main access. Business-wide areas like accounting, legal settings and the wallet live on Main, so only owners/admins with Main access can reach them.
